I listened to yamaha over polk and given the amp scource, I think polks are far better than yamaha. It's a personal thing, the choice of speakers. the single best routs is to compare sound, this is how I chose my speakers, Polk ES series 5.1 with PSW 150 watts w/ 12" driver. Put on a DVD-A like ELP's Brain salad Surgery and you will know who makes a better sounding speaker. ( LOUD)

DVD -audio is high quality rep. of music. they produce them by using dvd space for nothing but mostly audio. leaving room for all of what is recorded, as in a quality LP. reg. cd's the music is compressed and some is lost in the change. DVd -audio through MLP process there is no loss in transfer. this all means you get high end quality music. there is anither format SACD sony and Phillips makes that lots of audiophiles are into. but, having both formats, I like DVD-A more. You will find DVD-a also will playback on any dvd player, in DTS or DD 5.1. But, in order to decode the 5.1 of DVD-A you will need a DVD deck that will decode it. And, a amp that will deal with the full range of audio they are refered to as WRAT and be able to do multi-channel inputs. 1 in for each channel 5.1 , the results are in a word-- INCREDIBLE!! chech out a search ask for DVD-Audio. you will get all the answers needed.
