Purple/green cast on screen

05-18-2013, 05:12 AM
I experience this occasionally when I turn on Directv on my tv. Picture has a watercolor looking purple/green cast to the picture. When I turn it off/on again, picture color is resolved. I guess there is a chance it could be the tv itself, Sony Bravia, but I think it is the directv receiver. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, can you identify a better fix (then turning off/on again)?

How is connected HDMI - Or Component?
Can You Change the D* Receiver (move it to another TV)?
Is the Sony LCD or DLP?

The TV is a 2010 model Sony Bravia LCD TV. Connected by HDMI to a Pioneer receiver. I also have an Apple TV connected to the receiver that I have no picture color quality problem with so that's why I think it's the directv, just not sure. Plus this purple/green thing has been going on for a while now and before I got the receiver. In other words, it happened when the directv receiver (an HR22) was connected directly to the TV. Can't change to another tv plus its an intermittent problem. Trouble is sometimes it takes several turn off/on to fix so I always wonder if the issue is going to just stay there.

Have you changed the HDMI input from the Hr22 to another HDMI Port on the Sony?

No. The DTV is connected to the Pioneer receiver via HDMI input in the Sat/Cbl input on the Pioneer. Pioneer receiver ouput to TV is connected to the Sony via HDMI to Sony's HDMI 1. HDMI 1 is where the DTV used to be connected before i got the receiver. Purple/green problem comes up before and after getting the receiver. I realize the HDMI 1 port on the Sony could be bad but my Apple TV is connected to the receiver and viewing anything thru the appletv does not have the color problem.

I was just trying to find out if this was an issue anyone else had with a directv receiver and what they did.

I would suggest a Service call is in order get a new HR to see if the problem goes away - DO not Let them send you one to swap out - have a tech come out! You will have a better shot of getting a HR24 replacement. - Remember you will lose all your recordings and have to do your Links over - so write them down.
