Right cable in RV for Dish HD?

01-24-2012, 10:42 AM
I'll run cable from the Dish dish directly into our RV's 612 receiver (may go to Tailgater if that makes a difference in answers), bypassing the RV's system, and from that receiver I want to split the signal to two TVs. I've read HDMI is required and I've read Belkin 7915/16A RG6 will work. So, what would you suggest for both the sat/receiver run and receiver/TV? Thanks.

Need more info

for sure you need rg6 from dish to the 612.

Are both tvs HD? The one at the tv will obviously use the HDMI, the other can be coax and standard def and possibly feed into the rvs wiring.

If wanting both HD, you will need to run HDMI to the 2nd set, and use component out for the 1st tv.

RG6 coax is needed from the LNB/dish to the receiver for sure. I do want to note that only a 211k will work with the Tailgater, so the 612 would not work with it.

The 612 does have a coax output on it, which may be easier to run to the second TV if HD is not needed in that room. Otherwise, you would need to run Component cables or an HDMI.

*edit* Just realized I pretty much said the same thing as Jodean :o

The 612 i have has coax out, using it diplexed to another tv

Mattg, good point on the coax output on the 612. I know about the 211K requirement but don't know what outputs it has.

On the old trailer I split the signal from that coax output, running RG cable to the two SD sets. I haven't tried satellite yet on this new travel trailer, but we're planning on living in it for a couple months beginning in March and I'd like both HD tvs to get an HD signal.

So that coax ouput thing raises another question. If I go with the tailgater and its 211k, it looks to have 1 HDMI out, 1 coax out to TV, and 1 S video output. So is there opportunity there to get HD to both tv sets?

Sorry to be so lengthy, but I tried to give more info.

all dish HD receivers you can run two HD tvs off of.....still HDMI and component, still mirrored

211 does no good over a 612, unless you use a tailgater
