We are scheduled to have Dish installed on Friday. We live near Frisco. Do we need any special antenna or anything? We will be buying an HDTV today or tomorrow.

Hi. I started Dish HD service 2 months ago. The Dish installer will provide everything needed to watch dishnetwork programming (in hi def, if you ordered the right package/equipment) except the TV. To watch local HD broadcasts (you will get the local channels thru Dish, but not in hi def), you will need a different antenna which Dish does not provide. I'm in Richardson and get excellent local HD signal, except for Fox... I'm still working on that.

I also live in Frisco. What kind of antenna do you suggest? Also, what direction should this antenna face.

According to antennaweb.org, you are about 40 miles from the transmitters at Cedar Hill. The direction from Frisco is approximately 185 degrees magnetic. Best bet is a big rooftop antenna. The same kind used for regular TV is fine. You will see many recommendations for Channelmaster brand in other threads on this forum.
