Amazon VT30 vs GT30

I was going to head over to BB (price match Amazon) but ws wondering what you guys think, it's $200 more for a 55" GT vs the ST30. Is it worth the $200? Since BB is doing interest free 3 year financing the payment won't be too much higher but just curious to know which way I should go. (Then again...I haven't stepped inside BB yet to even know if they do indeed carry these models)
We are leaving in a few minutes to head over so if anyone can get me a quick response I'd truly appreciate it. Thanks.

OK I noticed the thread said VT30 instead of GT30 vs ST30.

Also, BB does not price match Amazon :(
Either way we picked up an open box ST30 for $1250 with 36 months 0% financing.

So what's the best settings for this tv?

First, congratulations on your new Panny plasma !!! You now own a fantastic HDTV ! But, just remember, those display settings that you quoted were done in someone else's house/laboratory. They may or may not work for you, unless your living room is EXACTLY the same as the one used to obtain those settings. Don't get me wrong. Those settings provide a really good starting point for calibrating your HDTV, but they won't be exactly right. Your best bet is to purchase a calibration disc, such as Spears and Munsil, or the DVE disc. If you can't find one locally, you can purchase one on www.amazon.com . They are really inexpensive, easy to use ( just follow the on-screen instructions for each setting ) and do a fantastic job of setting up your new HDTV for YOUR home environment. .

Hi All....

I am a noobie to the forum and looking for help/advise for buying a TV.
I was confused between Samsung UN40D6400 and Panasonic TCP42ST30. My main usage will be movies, TV shows and little bit of gaming..
After reading around on this forum and couple of IMs with Rizzo and John Rambo...I think the Panasonic TCP42ST30 would be a good choice (Rizzo cautioned me about Burn-In due to gaming but John Rambo assured that it will not be a big issue unless I plan to pause the game for several hours at a time)

But now on the 3DTV forum, I read that the 2011 ST30 series is also prone to the raising and floating black issue that plagued the earlier Panasonic models. Could anyone help me with more information on this.
Also, if I end up buying the ST30..I will also to getting the S&M for calibration....but can someone help me with the break-in slides that everyone suggests should be run for first 100-200 hours.

Thanks for all the help.

This is not true. Source? The only issue so far is fluctuating brightness/panel dimming, and the rumor is that firmware is coming out for it.

Since I am new to this forum, I dunno if I can post link in a thread just yet...
but here is the source..

I own an ST30 and have not seen floating blacks once, and do not believe it is a real issue. However, I do see fluctuating brightness, which is hopefully receiving a firmware update in the near future.

Type "fluctuating brightness" in Google. The first link should take you to a long thread on another forum discussing the issue. If you can't find it, PM me.

My PS3 optical output stopped working for some odd reason so I have to use the TV speakers but they're rattling which is annoying. Is this normal for these flat panels or is there something wrong with my speakers?
