Panasonic TM90K vs SD800K for mainstream use

Hi Guys, great forum, appreciate all the wisdom shared in here :yippee:.

Hoping to get some input on how much difference a mainstream user (mostly shooting my 5 year old, vacations, etc.) will see between the TM90 and the SD800. Right now it is pretty much exactly a $100 difference on Amazon (incl SD card for the SD800) and it is certainly tempting to step up. That said, cash does not grow on trees around here and if the difference a pure hobbyist would notice is not that great, I rather buy a good editor with that money.

My PC is a custom build system with good processing power and RAM, TV is a 5 year old 46" Sony Bravia XBR.

Price for TM90 is $430, for the SD800 $534 incl of SD card. I was also conisering the Sony CX160, but am curretly leaning more towards the Panasonics. Anythine else I should strongly consider in that price range?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Cheers.

Both models have 1/4" sensors,,,shooting in lower light conditions will deliver grain. Between the two pannys, the tm90 would be me choice (16gig on board and 21 x optical zoom) plus it can record to sdhc/sdxc cards. Have you considered a Canon? Best buy has the HF 20 at $650 bucks,,,in me little opinion,,,it's one fine camera.
