Need suggestions - LED or Plasma?

After reading through a lot of the threads, it seems as though there is a large amount of people that would agree Plasma is greater than LCD, hands down. I have been looking to upgrade from my 32" CRT TV for awhile now, but have finally saved up some money and am looking to spend around $600-$999. Only problem? I can't decide on which one to get.

1) I mainly use my TV for gaming and movie / tv watching.
2) 3D isn't necessary.
3) Screen size preferably 40"-46".
4) Under $1,000.
5) Has a nice design.

Currently stuck between either: Panasonic VIERA TC-P42ST30 (Plasma) or Samsung UN40D6000 (LED). Both are great TV's, I just can't decide. Besides those two TV's, are there any that fit my criteria?

All suggestions are welcomed.

I believe you would be best served by the Panasonic in a 46" size. The ST30 has gotten great reviews and has been called the best TV of the year by many including CNET. If you ever have problems or require service, Panasonic service is far and above what Samsung has to/will offer.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the suggestion Loves2Watch, however, I might go with the 42" version instead.

That would be fine as well. The 46" seems to be a bit pricey...
