I have 811 reciever and outside antenna. The ota signal and sat. signal go through diplexer and then into house. I need instructions on hooking pre- amp.I thhink I must put pre amp before diplexer ,or can I hook up after diplexer. Also if a pre-amp works will a regular amp work?
Thank you

Yes you need to put the preamp between the antenna and the diplexer (or multiswitch) and most mast mounted preamps will use the voltage supplied from the satellite receiver (or powered multiswitch) to power it. Adding a preamp after the diplexer at the TV will amplify any noise introduced into the lead in cables and may negate the good done by a preamp.
