Samsung LN46C630 vs Sony 46EX500

I was wondering if anyone had any info on these two. My main focus in on TV, movies and Blu-Ray, but I have to say that I'm interested in playing PC games on it too. Also my son has a Wii hooked up to our current Samsung PN50C550G1F, which I've had two and both have had dead pixel and image retention problems. I was also concerned that perhaps the the whole 550 series which was made in 1.2011, in TJ, Mexico could all possibly be bad. Are all Samsung's made in Mexico or does it just vary?

Anyway how is the standard def between the Sammy 630 and the Sony 500? How about hi-def...are they the same? Has anyone with these TV's had any dead pixels with them? Are there any updates on input lag with these TV's?

Exact 2 i have been looking at for a month. I just dont like the silver on the bottom of the sony, i know,,, im crazy.......Both are great sets and i actually went to BB to pick up the 630 for 799 but sold out so i went back on amazon and they are 798 through Vanns. best price i can find and free shipping. I know a bud that has the sony and no probs but i dont know of anyone with the Sammy. but reviews are easily found and they are great. The sammy actually has a better pic. I may be ordering mine this week.

Well I haven't had good luck with Samsung products, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are all bad of course. That said, if the 630 was also made in Mexico (because of what had happened with the Sammy 550 Plasma) I don't think I'd order it. I'm just leery of getting Samsung again, even if it is a different tech.
You're right though, both sets look good, but I've had very good luck with every Sony product I've ever owned and we've owned a few of them. The only thing...well two things that make me like the Samsung over the Sony is the motion control thing (I don't know what Samsung calls theirs) but apparently it has a setting between 0 and 9 or something. I'm not sure how many settings it is, but it can control the Soap Opera effect. The Sony only has on and off with theirs, but I haven't heard many complaints about the Sony.

Was looking for the best 46" display last month and settled on the 46EX500. Placed it next to a 50" Elite Pro110 and watching a Yankee game, had to change the channel on the Sony as it was starting to make my beloved Pioneer look not so good.

Then your Elite Pro wasn't calibrated. There is no way the picture on the Sony is/was/can be better...

Actually it was calibrated. It's just that for this game, nothing else, the Sony had a look that made the Pioneer start to look less appealing.
