Panny through Amazon or Samsung through Best Buy?

Hello all.

Finally pulling the trigger on a new plasma. Was all set to buy a Panasonic G20 through Best Buy, but they are out of stock, (as well as every other store within 100 miles of us.)

We've never bought a "big ticket item" through Amazon where they have G25's and GT25's for sale. The concern is: if we get the extended warranty through Best Buy and something happens, they come to the house to take care of the work.

If something happens through Amazon with the extended warranty, it goes to a local contracted shop, is sent out, etc.

It seems like the process, if something did happen, would be less of a hassle through Best Buy and Geek Squad.

So, any opinion on if the potential warranty work hassle out weighs getting a Panasonic through Amazon?

What model Samsung are you considering?

Unfortunately the PN50C550G1F is about our only option through Best Buy.

I recently purchased a Panny 50' GT25 through Amazon and although the first set that was delivered was defective (no picture and just buzzed), it was a delight dealing with Amazon's customer service and they had a new set delivered to me 5 days later. I couldn't be happier with the Panny. Beautiful picture even at the standard "all settings on 50" break in period.

As far as an extended warranty, I don't personally have one, but you can look into the Square Trade warranties. I've heard they are very good, but you would have to do your own research as I don't have any experience with them.

I've heard this rather frequently.

I bought a TV from Amazon before, had no problems.

To the OP, I would consider a G25/GT25 through Amazon...
