Samsung txr3080, screen size & ant.

I've joined the HDTV club and have a question regarding receiving OTA HD broadcasts.

I have the basic dipole ant. and larger (older by 6 years) ant in the attic of my house. I get good signal on both. When I use the dipole on the local NBC station, I get the 16:9 full size image while watching ER. When I switch to the older larger ant. I get HD, but the image on the same channel does not fill the whole screen. I do the full setup when I switch ant., but I don't get the whole 16:9 image that fills the screen.

Being new to this, it seems strange that this is happening. Can an ant. cause this or is it a setup aspect of the TV. I have the tv set to 16:9 in the tv setup, but I guess I am missing something. The ant. is connected to the AIR (RG6-style connector) and is NOT routed thru the D* HD receiver.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not all shows on digital TV channels are widescreen.

You can also use the digital tuner in your D* receiver... this is easier to use, with channels integrated into the guide.
