what I watched of the game yesterday there was one thing that really stood out....

with all the snow & wind Brady's passing was as on the money as any other time & the WR's had no trouble hauling them in like it was a warm bright sunny day.....i believe if you had no idea of the weather conditions & seen Brady's stats almost anybody would have said they must have had nice weather in Chicago that day.

BTW....i hate the patriots, so this is the last time I say something nice...lol

Steelers may have a different outcome the next time they play. The problem for them will be if it is this year, it will be in the Pat's stadium. That would be the best AFC Championship game, imo. At least at this point.

Maybe the best way to beat them is to join them, another words if they cant be stopped then they must be outscored and I know just the team that can run and gun with the best of them and the team I am speaking of is some what warm right now , actually they are HOT. I smell a re-match , :D

That would make a nice Super Bowl rematch in 2011 although I don't see the Giants getting there. I would have bet the farm given even odds on that 2008 Super Bowl but of course I couldn't get even odds so I was lucky.

Yeah, Giants are playing great right now. And they seem to have the Pats number. It would be nice seeing the Giants beat them again. :D

Despite having extremely low expectations (thought the Pats would be a 9-7/8-8) for the Pats this season, I like this team better than the 2007 team. The offense is easily more balanced, and the team is peaking at the right time. In 2007, the Pats digressed significantly after the first half of the season. The 2010 squad is only getting better, and playing their absolute best football down the stretch.

All in all, I wouldn't be all that upset if the Pats didn't even make the SB this season. Like I said before, I had low expectations for this year's team, so whatever happens, happens. Though, as long as the Pats can stay healthy, I'd be shocked if they weren't in the SB next year. Pats should have a damn good draft in 2011, this young defense will be a year older, Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden will be returning, etc., etc. If all goes well, next year's team is going to be significantly more dangerous than this season's team.

And in recent news, the Packers and their second string offense/defense march into Foxborough and kick the Patriots right in the teeth. The Patriots, despite getting dominated on offense and defense by the Packers led by Matt Flynn in his first NFL start, managed to pull off a squeeker of a win after the Packers handed them 14 free points; 7 off of a rookie mistake pick-6, and 7 off of a Tackle returning a kickoff against botched return coverage.

Even with the 14 free points granted to the Patriots and the 14 point spread, the Packers managed to keep Tom Brady and the alleged "high powered" Patriots offense on a short leash, holding Brady to a meager 163 yards and 2 TD's; one of which the Patriots got the ball on the Packers 4 yard line. The Packers continued to run the show, but ultimately, the inexperience of their starting QB gave the Patriots too many advantages to exploit, and the Packers were unable to get in the endzone after marching down the field like a real first string NFL offense.

That just about settles it. The 2010 Patriots are just barely better than the Packers' backups and practice squad.
:yippee:

Even though the Pack lost, I am content with the results of that game. With Aaron Rodgers, the Patriots would have been done. The Patriots, at home, were clearly no match for the Packers, but ultimately, a special teams mistake and rookie QB mistakes gave them a way to sneak out a victory.

No they're not. Patriot fans are the most arrogant crew on the planet. When the Patriots dominate teams, they talk about score and stats. When they get their teeth kicked in and barely squeeze out a lucky, undeserved win, they ignore stats and talk about their record. I even had one guy tell me that THE PATRIOTS ALMOST BEAT THEMSELVES

I just about shit out a lung. The Patriots made NO mistakes. No turnovers, no sloppy plays, and really not that many penalties. They were simply shut down by a superior team. We held their offense to table scraps and walked all over their defense.

You take away the two MAJOR Packer fuck-ups (the kickoff return by a LINEMAN and the pick-6 by Flynn), and you've got a 27-17 ballgame.

I wished I had watched the game. I didn't bother, as I expected a patsy blow out. I do plan to watch the NFL shows to see what packers did to make it such a close game. Hopefully other teams take note. The saying "on any given sunday" is applicable here. Flynn's handling of the last minute could have been better too. But he does lack experience... Packer's loss helped da bearz; if they win tonite, they win the division.

The Pats played like shit (and still won LOL) in a game where essentially nothing was on the line. Pats lose against Packers = still have to win next week to clinch the division. Pats win against Packers = still have to win next week to clinch the division. Therefore, the game pretty much meant nothing for the Pats. It's really not surprising that they played like garbage last night.

Nice job at blowing things out of proportion, though :haha:

You say played like shit and the game didn't matter, I say they were DOMINATED on both sides of the ball despite playing as hard as they possibly could. Luckily the Packers were gracious enough to let Connelly get a long kickoff return because they thought it was funny to see him run

I would tend to agree but with Vick pulling out the Heroics it will be a tough call. If Brady doesn't get it then it has to be Vick,IMO, even though Rivers is haveing a great stats type season I don't see him getting it.

hey JP....i wanted to tell ya thanks for letting us in on that great secret weapon Tom Brady had in his arsenal that I don't think hardly anybody outside of the Pats fanbase knew about...Rob Gronkowski!

In one fantasy league i had a good team but had a dead spot of basically zero points the first couple weeks and I was searching & remembered you talking about Gronkowski on one of these threads on here so I grabbed him. He definitely made a difference in some games & helped me to win the championship....No way I would have grabbed him or even somebody as productive as him. He definitely will not be an unknown in fantasy drafts next year as he is a beast!

Good point. It is not always the best team that wins the SB or gets there. Often time, it's the one that gets hot at the end of the season, starts to roll and suddenly, there they are.

The Saints and Falcons are the 2 best teams in the NFC. They won't be at the SB.

The biggest surprise for me are the Bears. That was a woeful team early on. Yet. Here they are hosting the NFC Championship game against their most bitter rival. Advantage Bears. Whoda thunk it?

Steelers are good but not that good. Yet, they may just find themselves winning another SB.

I don't like any of the teams. If I have to root for one, I will root for the Jets.

I am an old AFL guy and the Jets haven't tasted anything since 1968 season and 69 SB III.

Unlikely they will do it. However, don't tell Cinderella she can't go to the big dance. Those Fairy godmothers can do some strange things.

I like the fact the Pack is in the NFC Championship game while Bret Farvre watches.

Aaron Rogers has had to live under that shadow a while. No longer.

The opening line for the Steelers/Jets game was Steelers -4.5 but before the night was over it was already bet down a whole point to 3.5.

I don't think the Jets beat us again. We were missing Troy Polomalu last time we played plus others. We will have to get some healthy offensive linemen or Big Ben will get pounded. I still think our defense completely shuts the Jets down.

Steelers 20 Jets 9

It's obvious the Pakcers have been the hottest team in the NFL the last few weeks & I just can't see Chicago stopping them. The line on this game is Green Bay 3 point favorites. I am shocked that Chicago isn't at least a 1 or 2 pt favorite.

Packers 27 Bears 17

I totally agree with that statement about the team that's hot...Remember the run the 6th seeded Steelers made all the way to a Super Bowl victory over Seattle a few years ago?
We was the bottom seed & won games AT Indianapolis & AT Denver on the way to the Super Bowl....was PITT the best team that year? NO, I think Indy was, but PITT had the hot hand at the right time.

Exactly and probably the best example for the argument. 6th seed and very tough away games. I thought it was 3 away that year. Even so, 6th seed.

The KC Chiefs were the first team not a division champion to win the SB in IV. That team was 2nd to the Raiders in 69 losing to them twice. They met for a third time in The Last Game of the AFL with KC winning.

The Raiders were the first "wild card" team to make it and win the SB in 1980 having finished 2nd to the Chargers and winning the AFC Championship in San Diego.

The Jets would not be the first team as you see 3 examples of teams to come from nowhere. However, they would surely be the surprise team to do so.

It was a few short weeks ago the Pats thoroughly drubbed the Jets 40 or so points. Now look.

The Steelers certainly have the inside track. Whether they will or won't remains to be seen.

NFL films did a great piece once on "The Lost Rings", teams that coulda and shoulda won Super Bowls.

This year coulda been the Pats. Now, shoulda is the Steelers.

There is something to be said about wanting it more than the other guy.

Marsha MVP???? You've got to be kidding. Look at these stats...

Make that FIVE straight postseason collapses.

After an amazing 10-0 start to his playoff career, he is 4-5 since (post-cheating era).
Their last three playoff games: 14 point loss, 14 point loss, 21 point loss.
Brady's numbers in his last five playoff losses: 122 of 208 (58.7%) for 1,292 yards (6.21 YPA), 7 TD, 7 INT, 74.0 passer rating.
Not only are his comp%, YPA, TD-INT ratio, and passer rating WAYYYY below his norm, they're below the NFL norm, too.

Best QB? Nope.
Most clutch QB? Nope.
Best big-game QB? Nope.
Best playoff QB? Nope.

Biggest problem with creating a thread like this is all of the crow you have to eat when your team fails

Which winds up being 31 of the 32 teams. One wins the SB. The rest end up as losing their last game or not being good enough to make the playoffs.

Yes it was 3 road games for PITT that year. I forgot to mention the 1st game at Cincinnati...that was the game where our Guard tackled Carson Palmer right as he threw a bomb on the 1st offensive play of the game for Cincy & Palmer was done for the game & part of the next season.

I certainly hope so but out of respect for coach Tomlin I won't run my mouth. All I care for is 1 more point than the other team at the end of the game.

I 'm not eating any crow. OK, maybe a little but when I created the thread it was a true statement and I also mentioned a couple of times that anyone can beat anyone on any giving day. Also remind me where your team ended up....:p:hithere:

On any given Sunday.. The Seahawks proved that this year.... parity adds into the mix as well... a catch made vs being dropped (ask the Ravens)...

Gonna be a great SB - Packers vs Steelers. It really really sucks that they'll be playing at the patsy dallas stadium. Be much better to watch if it was up in Buffalo or over in Chicago. Hopefully the Vikings new stadium will be topless! (like their old one is now)

No offense meant...just that its a bit tough when our expectations in our beloved team are soooo high and they fall short....Believe me I know I have been there often.

Case in point 1969 L.A. Rams I actually cried when they lost in Minnesota in the playoffs that year. I was 10 years old, I still remember my Dad asking what was wrong with me....

Remember it well. This was quite a historical time in NFL history. This was the last time the AFL and NFL would play in a championsihp game prior to the merger of the 2 leagues.

The Vikings hosted the NFL Championship game outside at the old Metropolitan stadium in horrible weather. This worked well for the Vikes who were a running team with tough defense.

The Rams, on the other hand, were wide open with Roman Gabriel at quarterback and Jack Snow as a wideout. The Rams boasted their own version of defensive prowress with The Fearsome Foursome spearheaded by the late Merlin Olson and Deacon Jones.

Defense ruled the day and the Vikings won representing the last NFL team to play in SB IV.

The AFL marked the end of the AFL as we knew it as the leagues merged and became the NFL with NFC and AFC as conferences.

The Raiders and Chiefs played "The Last Game of the AFL".

On another string there was discussion on teams that should have gone or won the SB and 1969 is a good example of 2 teams that shoulda, coulda but didn't.

Both the Rams and Raiders were expected to meet in SB IV. However, it was not meant to be.

The Chiefs wound up routing the Vikes whose archaic approach was no match for the man in motion wide open attack of Hank Stam's Chiefs.
