2 HDTV's, same manufacturer, only one receives basic cable HD broadcasts

I have an interesting situation going on with my sports. In my house we have 2 LCD screens, a Magnavox 37MF32/37, made in April 2007, and a Magnavox 32MF337B/27, made in February 2008. The 37 is the living room tv and the 32 is the room tv. We have Comcast in our community, and we get all the basic channels for free, which we actually pay for as part of our community fees...forgive me for ranting lol. Anyway, here is my problem. The room tv can pick up the broadcast networks' HD broadcasts, such as ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX, but the living room tv can't, even though an autoprogram found those channels. For instance, channel 5.1, NBC shows on my room tv, but on the living room tv, the screen is black and it says channel not available. The room tv displays up to 1080p, and the living room tv displays up to 1080i. Also, there is no coverter box, just the cable from the wall running to the tv. There are certain digital channels that do show, but they are public access channels and channels that don't broadcast in 1080p. What can I do to watch the games in HD besides buy a new tv? I would like to watch it in the living room, since that tv has better sound, is a larger screen, and is in the living room already mounted. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First delete all scanned channels that are there already. Also make sure you check boxes to scan for all digital channels as well.

Hope this helps!

I also have two LCD TVs, one 19 inch Toshiba new last Christmas, and we just got a Samsung 46 inch this weekend. We also have just basic cable but the 19 inch picks up the HD local channels (NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox) perfectly. The new 46 inch picks them up but the picture is freezing and sometimes it says no signal. What is different here?? We also really want to watch HD on the bigger TV.

You likely need to replace the cable going to the room where the bigger TV is that is having the problem. You might want to put a signal amp on the line as well. The more times you split a signal the weaker it gets for all, but the cable is likely poor going to the room where the bigger TV is.

Cinderblock, check to see if the 37" has a QAM tuner, if so, then you'll be able to pick up the local HD channels free and clear. If it does not have a QAM tuner, then it cannot.
The cable companies are required to provide the local channels in HD free and clear, so if it does have a QAM tuner and you are not getting it, their could be some kind of crimp on that hookup to that room.
