I was about to pull the trigger on a 50" TV online and I wanted to read about the return policy. It said very clearly that there are NO returns on TV's over 37".
This really bums me out as I'm not comfortable tossing $$$ into an online sale with just hopes that the TV is all that it should be on day one or day 20.

Anyone out there have experience with returns on TV's over 37" or advice? I really don't want to buy my TV from Ultimate Electronics locally as the price is +$400 over the online price. Plus the online has no tax and no shipping.

ex. B & H is one online loc with the TV/price I want.

I would never buy a product from a retailer that did not have a minimum 30-day return policy.
Nothing worse than bringing home your new display, unpackaging it to find it defective, and then having to call the manufacturer for a service call, rather than simply doing an in-store exchange.

No TAX, No SHIPPING= > NO RESPONSIBILITY.
Buyer beware, I would suggest buying from ETailers with a good reputation when you consider your savings VS your possiblle losses, it just don't make sense.

Or consider buying from from Robert at Value Electronics, or Chris at Cleveland Plasma. Both excellent guys/companies who stand behind what they sell.

Agreed, these two guys are perfect examples of responsible and reliable E-Tailers, and set a level of businessmanship others should aspire to emulate and would be wise to follow.

The potential hassle of returning a set that gets purchased online is the main reason why I stay local for major electronics purchases . Its "old-thinking" but I feel better with it.

As others have said - Value Electronics & Cleveland Plasma are great places to get a set from though if you decide to buy online. It will still be a hassle and take time to do a return but at least with these guys they wont screw ya. Caveat Emptor. ;)
