Thank you for reading this.

I am trying to help out a friend in need. She is down on her luck and I am trying to help her resolve this problem as she has no money to fix the TV.

Her boyfriend, father of her two boys, ran out on her, left his TV. I am trying to get her new place setup so her boys can watch Baby Eisenstein DVDs, and anything else educational I can find them.

The TV in question is a Toshiba 62HM15A. Its a 62 inch 1080i capable, 720p native DLP television. I have attached three screen shots of what the TV is doing. I am a pretty technical guy, as I work in the Information Technology industry, but I don't have a problem putting my ego aside and know when to ask for help. I don't want to damage the TV further as they really have nothing else in the house to use.

If you have any hint as to what might be the problem, and a fix I would be forever grateful. I will have to do the repairs myself as I don't have the money myself to fix the problem. I already took the lamp out and inspected it, I saw no cracking or browning on the lamp assembly. I also couldn't see anything wrong with the color wheel, but I honestly have no idea what I am looking for.

Thank you for your input, I am grateful and I am sure she will be too.

Regards,
Dave

EDIT: I did a search and I couldnt find something similar for this TV. I apologize if I missed something blatantly obvious. Just trying to help out a friend down on her luck.

Nobody thinks they know what the black tear is caused by? I was hoping someone would have some kind of idea.

I wonder if that could be from a broken mirror? Does the tv display a picture? There is a big mirror that reflects the image onto the screen it may have a crack and is causing that. Maybe other people will chime in.
