Panasonic Viera HD 37 inch Plasma

09-18-2005, 09:55 AM
Hi all
Am new to this game and reside in England so no HD on the airwaves yet
Currently have my PC connected via the D-Sub and picture looks great
However I do not know if that will be able to display HD modes
My questions are can it display HD via this connection?
I know of graphics cards that have a dvi to component cable included with them and wonder if connecting this to the Component in will have the desired effect?
However the Panasonic manual states 'do not connect a computer with TTL output (5v) to this set' via component
I do not know what this means!
Any help would be appreciated

TTL (transistor - transistor logic) is 5 volts. I think VGA's RGB signals may be at this level... it's saying you can NOT use VGA level signals as they will burn out your input ports. Y/Pr/Pb is a different color model as well as voltage levels from VGA... you need a transcoder to do this, not just a passive cable.
