hey guys, im between 3 different tvs

vizio 42 led lcd XVT423SV

element 42 lcd

Panny 42 S2

my basic concerns for the tv is that i want it to last for a long time, at least 5 years reliably, i will be using it mainly for games and sports, and i want to get the most bang for my buck, thanks again

Panny will be the most reliable, followed by Vizio. I wouldn't seriously consider the Element.

The S2 is a nice set, but depending on the games and how much you play them, you might be better off with the Vizio LED/LCD display.

If you are really concerned about the life of the unit, you can by warranties from Mack (up to 5 years) or SquareTrade (up to 4 years).

ok so basically the panny is the most reliable, my only concern with that one is that i dont know if i want to upgrade to the G25/ if ill have any buyers remorse with the panny

I feel that the vizio is the safest option, it has great reviews online, but in terms of PQ ive heard the panny is much better, just a lot of confusion out there

I don't think you'd end up with buyer's remorse over the S2, but if you can swing the extra cash, by all means, upgrade to the G25.

so is the g25 worth the 250 or so raise in price where i could buy a warranty with that amount

Actually, you can get . . .
the S2 for $679,
or the G25 for $815,
. . . both at Amazon - both include free shipping.

That's a difference of $136. Get the G25.

IMO the G25 is well worth the $136 difference. A Mack extended warranty can be had for under $100 through Amazon, and you have until the ninth month of the Panny warranty to purchase it.

i found the S2 on sears website for 550 though which is where i came up with the 250 from, i definitely feel like the G25 would be better, its just the price difference might be a little hard to come up with, is it worth saving up for

i found the S2 on sears website for 550
and don't forget sales tax at Sears . . . even so, that's a great price.

. . . is it worth saving up for
Personal opinion - yes.
I'd start saving and keep shopping - not unlikely to find a great deal on G25 as well.

Good Luck.

do you know of any stores that sell it in the actual store, i would prefer to avoid buying online if possible

Do you own a minivan (or similar) to get it home?

But seriously, the online prices almost always beat the stores; also there's the sales tax at the stores which can be avoided online.

I noticed that Sears was offering free shipping, like Amazon and others if you shop for them. With delivery, they will also open the box, check for damage; plug the set in to insure that it is not DOA, and haul away the empty boxes.
Any particular reason you'd prefer to avoid buying online?

i am a college student, and when you get a package it is held at the front desk of the dorm for you, and i would just rather not risk buying a 800 dollar tv or so and having college students sort through it to find out whose it is, there is enough stories already of packages going missing

buy the s2 or wait till black friday for a better deal

Yeah it sounds like the S2 would be your best bet. Unless you can order online, S2 would be the best to buy at local stores for a 42-inch.

when do you think the g25 will drop in price across all website/ places though, it might take me a month or two to get the money, and i can wait till after the holiday season

Ha, I made an identical post. I'm leaning towards the S2 but I haven't made my mind up. If I did buy the G25 then there would be no question of upgrading in my mind. Then again since I know someone who works at Sears walking out at $550 is a damn good deal. Very difficult decision.
