Andy Irons Passes Away At Age 32

I know a lot of you don't follow surfing, but this guy had a helluva decade. Probably the best surfer between 2000 and 2010. Very sad story, especially considering what he has left behind:

It is with a heavy heart that we spread this news of Andy Irons untimely death. Initial reports have him passing away after getting dengue fever in Portugal. On Sunday, Andy, 32, withdrew from the Rip Curl Pro Search Puerto Rico citing an illness. According to reports which have yet to be confirmed, Andy was so sick he was unable to board his flight from Dallas to Kauai, got a hotel room, and was found there dead leaving behind a pregnant wife, family, and world full of friends and fans.

That sucks. I don't follow surfing much anymore since I left the coast and sold my board, but I know who Andy is.
I hate hearing about people leaving young families behind.

EDIT: Wow, this is some nasty shit.. Reminds me of some type of plague like symptoms. The mosquitos that transmit it are scary looking too, don't see those on the east coast.

Dying @ 32 & leaving behind a pregnant Wife & his family... :what:

Yea, very sad. Kelly Slater seems to get what litlle pub surfers get but Irons was a hell of a surfer. Heard he had holed up in Dallas as he was on his way home and became too sick to continue to travel. Very Unfortunate. People who travel to other countries especially third world ones often are at risk for things we never even hear of in the US. IIRC he has a younger brother on the surfing tour. Even the Ap seems to be carrying the news at it was on local radio this am in Ohio.
