so my infocus just died, its a model number sp61md10. In the light assembly it melted a clear square plastic piece, its convex on one side and flat on the other. does anyone know the part number, or name of part, where to get one or do i have to replace the whole light tunnel?

I don't think parts are available for that model, but there is good news. You can replace that unit with a very low cost unit that more recent. I think upgrading now is probably the best bet.

That sounds like a lens of some sort. You would have to buy a service manual for your model to find the part number or call the mfg to get it.

Good luck!

so i talked to infocus and they dont sell spare parts to consumers. i also disected the tv in search for that part number and took some pictures. i was looking on another forum to see if anyone else had the same problem as i, and i found one guy. He replaced that plastic "lens" with a glass one, as i have messaged him i have yet to get a response. Also i have heard that infocus's were also produced by RCA and some parts are the same, so i did some searching on google and came up with a couple of light tunnels for my model, 2 were on ebay and recently sold:banghead: then i checked partstore.com, and discount-merchant.com and not to my suprise, sold out or backorder:banghead::banghead:. so im wondering if anyone knows where to find one, or if they have a local shop that may? or someplace that may have this lens in glass or plastic, please help, i will post part number for light tunnel. thanks for your help.

here is the light tunnel>>>>

i can get more pics, just ask if it helps. i would prefer not to get rid of my 61" as this is the first major problem and it has treated me extremely well over the years. I love this tv deff my favorite dlp. Oh and the part numbers for the light tunnel are here>>>
Reference number:61" 530-0177-00 (i had the best luck searching with this number.)
Part number: APGU44300355
Part number?:4030795(the top 2 numbers where covered with a sharpie and a barcode sticker with this number was placed underneath the top 2.)
the tv was mfg in August of 05 if that helps.

The SP61MD10 is the same as RCA HD61THW263
the light tunnel on the rca is part number: APGU44500429
Reference number is:41034445510077
and all i need out of that is that small plastic lens about 1"x1"x.1"

Might be easier and cheaper to carefully measure the lens, like with a caliper if you have one, get a crude measurement of focal length, and look for a replacement from an optics supplier. Look at http://www.anchoroptics.com/catalog/subcategory.cfm?catid=104 and at http://www.edmundoptics.com/onlinecatalog/browse.cfm?categoryid=11

You need either a round plastic lens that you can saw and square off, or a smaller round lens that you can glue into some kind of frame to square it up. You will probably not get lucky enough to find a square or rectangular lens. I would favor the glass idea, because with plastics every formula has a different temperature spec and temperature was obviously the problem.

well thanks for all the help guys but i took some of CKONE180's advice and just upgraded to a 42" panasonic viera plasma:yippee::yippee::yippee:. i will probably end up sellin the infocus for something cheap:crying:. but if she dont sell ill just keep her and just keep my eyes open for a new light tunnel. Also i found the "official name" of the lense. Its an Acrylic Condenser Lens, apparently many infocus's have this problem and Infocus will not replace or repair it. So i guess thats, that. Thanks for all your help guys.
