I am having my house wired for 7.1 surround. The company (Guardian) works with Ryan Homes and they've done the wiring already. I don't know much about speaker wire and I am trying to learn before they put the drywall up.
What should I look for in this wire? It wasn't cheap to have done either. I can't see all the cost being labor.

I would want at least 16 guage speaker wire, with the wire either color coded or the rubber shielding on the wire marked for pos (+) and neg (-)..........

Thanks for the info. What I am getting from this is basically it doesn't matter as long as you have a decent gauge wire and you minimize or remove any interference. I am comforatable with what they've installed then.
