Almost had it out with a DirectTV technician

So I come yesterday and see a DirectTV van outside my apt, where he was installing a dish for the lady downstairs from me. Cool, whatever.

I go upstairs into my apt and realise my internet is not working, and I can't sign into PSN. I go downsatirs and ask him if he had anything to do with my internet connection...maybe he acidentally disconnected something. He says nope, no idea what you are talking about, sorry I can't help you.

Then I decide to follow the coaxial from my modem, down the side of the house towards the locked cable box, and what do you know, it's left hanging all by itself in the mid air, about 8feet from the cable box. This is right where all his DirectTV stuff he just put together is located. I then look at the cable box itself and there are freshly cut and stripped connections coming out of it.

He played dumb, saying he thought it was her connections, it was an accident, "it's only my second day" yada yada yada.

It got loud and the cops came, but they couldn't do anything about it because they didn't catch him red-handed.

I'm thoroughly convinced this was intentional and am ticked off! No internet all last night! Was there any reason for him to do anything to the cable box?!

TW is coming today to fix the mess this left left.

This seems common maybe a tech thing as when Verizon came to install FIOS TV and internet me comcrap TV and internet stopped working even though its on a different system and not part of the verizon wiring. It maybe a game one company does to another but my comcrap doesnot work anymore.

The only reason to open up the cable box is to use all the runs going to "the op" apt, that way the new set up will utilize the existing wires thus avoiding the need to run their own, so he just had to come from the dish to the junction, do you share this junction box with the other apt, if so he cut you lose to use that splitter to run the op a second line.
Here in south jersey the dish and direct guys are not allowed to use the comcast pre-existing set ups they have to establish their own box and feeds throughout the home.

I think I am maybe

But the thing is he didn't open up the cable box (TW put a padlock on it), it appears he simply cut one or some of the connections coming out of it... I can't understand why.

But I have read numerous times on the webz of this happening between providers, screwing each other over when they get a chance, so that is what I'm chalking it up as.

TW will be coming in the next 2hours, so I'm interested in what this technician thoughts about this will be.

Well the TW tech came and ran me new line, all is well, thanks for your thoughts! He himself wasn't sure what the other guy did.

Just goes to show you what indirect is all about. My tech(indirect employee not outside contractor) install 3 of 4 lag bolts without hitting a stud and forgot about a ground wire. thus searching for signal 771. If ya called indirect for something like this problem, they would tell you to pay 5 or 6 dollars a month for they bs insurance that covers service call where any cable co. won't chare anything! glad someone else fixed indirect 's screw up. regards

I had a similar problem. A neighbor had satellite installed and the tech cut what he 'thought' was the neighbors coax. Why couldn't he just disconnect the line to confirm 1st? Well he cut my line then when he saw it was the wrong one he cut the right one. All he had to do was repair my line or in the least, very least, inform me so I could call TW.
So you are not paranoid.

Your still here, lol.

Now u have DTV? i thought u didnt anymore.

Your whole indirect is getting old and no one cares anymore.

As for TWC, there the same as DirecTV, Dish or Comcast, they all have bad employees, in my life(im 26) I have never had a worst experience then with TWC, they refuse to pony up cash for stuff people want, IE NFL Ticket and NFL Net/Redzone.

Idk about comcast, not available here, but Dish is also terrible. No MLB EI or MLB Net or YES Net.

Im not saying Directv is greatest thing but there far from the worst thing in the world. Also, when installing, the service it depends on who u get, was your installer from DirecTV or a local installer?

just wondering, cause usually local installers dont give a crap, and some are ignorant. Just my .02 cents.

Yeah, I have no beef with any tv company, but it appears they do with each other! The guy was in a DirectTV van, and the TW guy said the DircectTV service people are contracted or something like that.

It is not a matter of TW ponying up Direct has an EXCLUSIVE contract with the NFL allowing only DirectTv to offer it. However TW may not be ponying up to pay for ESPN and may be losing all of them soon.
