Bulb Question and Service Menu question for Samsung TV

08-08-2010, 03:00 PM
Hello Everyone I am new to the forum. I have a question about my bulb on my Samsung DLP TV ..I currently have a HL56A650 Samsung DLP HDTV that I purchased in October of 08. I currently am having no problems with it but I know that it is probably time to at least be on the same side and purchase a new bulb just in case the light goes out. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what Bulb I should get? Is there a particular model number or bulb? Does anyone know how long a bulb from this type of DLP usually lasts?

Also, I have seen that some samsung tv owners have talked on this forum about some "service menu" that tells you how many hours your bulb has been in use for. Where do I go to see my information on my bulb?

Thank you for helping me I really do appreciate it!

I worked on a friends hlr5067wx/xaa rear projection tv. If you google your tv part number and 'bulb' you'll get lots of hits. Mine happened to have two different sized lamps on the production run. So check the set serial number to see what 'size' you have before ordering. Of the many lamps available, try to get the 'original' bulb manufacturer. Lots of chinese copies out there. Mine was phillips. And was about 108.bucks. Cheaper than $238 at a retail store. Bulb manufacturers will give you good data on what to look for and look out for, and compatibility "size" issues. Bulb life may be 2000-3000 hours. Figure your average daily usage times days per year to get a rough idea of lifetime used. Do not touch bulb. Oil on fingers will cause a hot spot and rapid failure. I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT A SERVICE MENU.
