VT20 vs. VT25 ??

Perhaps it's just a matter of inventory, but something at a local Best Buy makes me wonder what is the difference between a VT20 and a VT25.

Best Buy is running a massive blow-out sale on the 50" VT20 this week...the price has been slashed, and they are throwing in two extra pairs of glasses as well as free home delivery.

The 50" VT25 is still MSRP and doesn't include anything extra.

Is there some major difference between the two, or does my local Best Buy just have too many VT20's in their inventory?

It is curious...when I was shopping for one they seemed identical pretty much and I only went with the VT25 because that's the one that Cleveland Plasma gave me the sweet deal on. :p

According to Panasonic, the VT20 will be/is shipped to brick and mortar stores like Best Buy, the VT25 will be/is for on-line sales/sellers only...

One local Best Buy only carries the VT20. Another local Best Buy only carries the VT25. Cleveland Plasma only carries the VT25, except there it is a hell of a lot cheaper than at Best Buy. :p

I think you are right...maybe the Best Buy that has the VT25 only carries it because they have a special "Home Theater" section in that store...

Probably so as the two VT models are made for different distribution points.

I don't really get this marketing strategy or whatever it is. Why make the same TV, paint it two different colors, then sell both "models" just in different places/markets/whatever? :what:

It makes the retailers happy since they do not have to price match. ;)

Vt20 comes in a 50" only while Vt25 comes in 54, 58, 65" models. VT20 is brushed stainless steel (bezel) while the VT25 has a dark burnished brass bezel.

Price matching - exactly. If you find the VT25 selling online for less than a VT20 at a B&M store, the store doesn't have to price match, because it's a different model ( even though, in reality, they are 99.99% the same TV ). Very clever.....
