I couldn't care less about the spelling errors, but I'm trying to figure out why the OP didn't just post what he wanted to share instead of throwing out teasers.

With the abusive replies he's gotten, he probably won't respond anymore. Everyone is always so critical here.

Because on some hd tvs if the hd settings on the boxs are not set the pic wont fit the screen, the old LGs were bad about this.

Also if I let every little thing everyone said about me get me I probably would have choked about 10+ customers by now.

My grammar may not be perfect but I know how to fix cable and if I dont I can ask the 20+ people at work who have been there 15+ years

TWC_employee, welcome to the forum. :hithere:

I have a question that may or may not be related to the cablebox.

Is there any truth to the rumors that soon subscribers will be able to access computer content to their TVs through the cable company's coaxil cable, without the need for a media server?

-Best,
John

i know in my area we are 5 to 6 months being able to do things like:

DVR start over

Set DVRs from smart phones

And there is a rumor that when we start using switch video that we will be activating the USB on the box so you can use an external hard drive.

but as far as being able to use things like youtube on the box I have no idea. Next time our corporate development guys come in I will ask

Yeah well I found it funny he wanted to give us some knowledge but couldnt spell the word. Kinda lends to your credibility when you could simply check your spelling and I guess cannot figure out how to do that. Truely an oxymoron!

Ow common didnt you find it just a little bit funny when he wanted to give us knowledge and couldnt spell it? If he would have said something else misspelled I wouldnt have cared but knowledge? This is why you stay in school and get an education so you can call someone to repair your broken TV signal and not have to do it yourself. I also didnt like that he could give us inside information like we dont already know more than he does about how his industry works. Some of us have been manipulating the signal since the 80's when it all started. While I applaud his efforts to help anyone for free I just couldnt resist sorry my bad :(

Well one thing to consider our outside knowledge comes from not having the tech manuals and the day to day experience. But then again knowing how the industry works does not take high intelligence now figuring out how to invert the sync signal to defeat anti piracy techniques that took me an entire weekend. Nowadays its very hard to beat the encryption but there are many companies that sell the hardware. What would be of interest would be to know what companies sell products that do work. But I dont think you would be willing to tell us that, so I guess we will have to do it that old fashioned way of bribing a tech.

gone are the days of bribing techs for extra channels or services. you continue to brag about doing it. nowdays all he can offer is a little knowledge. I am curious about your career. maybe we can tell everyone how to circumvent any security or how to get free services from you. even at your expense.

you are right as far as digital cable/phone/internet go, but as far as standard cable goes all you need is a tall ladder. you might need a terminator tool or a "star" key (both can be found on ebay for less than 30 bucks)

some markets are already doing away with their analog package requiring a digital box. not all star keys are alike different markets use different star formations. some offset some reverse offset. twc charges 500 for replacement keys and each has its own serial #. and terminators vary as well. most do use some kind of sleeve bearing. but just offer some lazy inhouse tech a few dollars and he will hook you up. but after several audits for service theft and you may find yourself without a service drop or worse. I've known auditers to power that open port with a 80 volt power shunk. shock the hell out of you. not to mention blow your tv. as far as internet goes look up haxorware. all you need is an active mac to clone. there will always be someone trying to get something for free or little charge.

Well im afraid I havent had to modify my system for at least 15 years thats how long I have been with comcrap sad to say. Before that it was the wild west of free dish services with programming cards and modding the circuit boards. Probably now it would take more effort and a call to the wild west florida for the lastest wares. For me Florida has always been the hotspot of the piracy triangle. Always seemed to be first with all the great crackers and promers.

I used an allen key in my youth to defeat the star key. Also nothing can defeat a good cordless drill. You just drill off the back of the case then the tech will never see your entry. When notch filters were the rage you could buy them from overseas hollow to replace comcraps even with matching stickers. It was just a metal can with a pass through coax cable.

This is 100% true I know for a fact comcrap does this often in my childhood neighborhood I had the whole street wired as neighbors talk about free this free that. But only a few would put surge protectors on their coax till they lost their TV tuners on their VCR's would pop them causing massive ghost images basically ruining them. After a couple of VCR's got fried the word got out and the whole street went surge on everything then we had no more problems. Even now being "legal" I have my whole house on a surge for both power and cable + phone (when I had a land line) since that I have never lost anything to lightning or surges and my light bulbs tend to last a very long time. I have fluorescent tubes that are 15 years old back when I moved in. I recommend everyone use surges its only good insurance. Also make sure your dish(s) are grounded my neighbor lost his entire AV system because of lightning that hit his dish also took out some of his electrical circuits.
