Good/bad HDMI cabels effect on input lag

Hi there,

I recently started playing on my xbox360 again after not playing it for a year. I bought Xbox Live and started playing again. But one thing i noticed was that there clearly was some problems with the input lag on my tv.

I'm playing on a Philips 32PFL7603D/12 32' LCD TV

I started reading up on the subject "input lag". After figuring out what input lag actually means I startede blaming my tv for not being good enough :-(
I read something about something called "Game Mode" witch the new HDTVs have but unfortunately my tv doesn't have a "Game Mode" option.
I tried using my VGA cable witch comes with the xbox360 but nothing seems to be working for me. And then i suddenly realized that i was using some 2-3 year old pretty cheap hdmi cable (It's pretty long too around 2meters).

And now to the question.
If I bought a new and more expensive HDMI cable would it have any effect on the input lag on my LCD TV (Not HDTV)?

Thanks (And sorry for my bad English)

Unfortunately i think the input lag is a result of the tv and not the hdmi cable... Lcd's are know for their lag during video game playing.

Make sure you are sending the signal at the native resolution of the TV to minimize the lag due to scaling issues, but like what the previous poster stated, LCDs are notorious for this and why I game with a plasma. The cable will not be the cause.

What TV did you use before this for gaming?

I used a 21' old fashion tv. You know, the 480i/240p ones with no input lag.
But thanks for the quick (and good!) replies.
I might be considering getting a brand new tv now since this isn't working out for me.
Do you guys know a "must have" tv i would want to buy? I'm thinking sizes about 32inches

Budget?

1200-1300$

And when i say around 32inches a 40 or 42 is fine too ;-)
(Just not less than 32)

If you go up to 42" screen size you can get a plasma which has no lag. That is what I use.

That Panasonic TC-P42G25 42'' looks really great! And the ~1100$ is definitely something i can afford ;-)

Thanks alot for the help to both of you, I really appreciate it and I will definitely keep posting and reading on the forum!
