Been converted. About to buy Panasonic TC-P50VT20 but...

I have a LG5400 LCD but after listening to the reviews and going in person and seeing the Panasonic TC-P50VT20 I was impressed and the colors are awesome on that TV. The TV looked great just as bright as the LCDs without the overkill on colors and brightness that I saw on the LCDs.

I have one question though. The TV is priced around $2500 I assume a big part of it is because its 3D.

Is there a TV made by Panasonic that has just as good as a picture as the Panasonic TC-P50VT20 but without 3D. I'm thinking the 3D makes it more expensive or should I go with this model. I have around $2200 to spent but I could go up in price if this the best options.

Also is a 50" good enough if I'm watching TV from 12 feet away.

I have also decided with Panasonic because of all the great reviews about their customer service.

From 12' away you should at least look for a 54" screen size at a minimum with 58" being optimum.

If you decide to go with a 54" for budget reasons this would be a good display that has excellent PQ but is NOT on sale at $1999.99 right now:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasonic+-+VIERA+/+54%22+Class+/+1080p+/+600Hz+/+Plasma+HDTV/9888051.p?id=1218192500109&skuId=9888051

If you wait for it to go on sale you might get it for maybe the $1700.00 range at Best Buy.

Right now the price at this place is $1699.99 for the almost identical P54G25 here:

We have a very long thread about this company and to save you days of reading they are a legit company that doesn't require you to pay until they deliver the product and you make sure it is working, but they are mostly only delivering to the east coast right now. They do not have the flexible return policy like a local Best Buy has though. It is worth a call to see if they can deliver it to your area.

Hope this helps!

Is the TC-P50VT20 priced more strictly because it's 3D or it offers a better picture than the one you mentioned for $2000 TC-P54G20. If so is the picture more noticeably better.

"They" say that the 3D TVs should look better even for 2D because the improvements for 3D also help with 2D material also, but it will likely be fairly small for 2D I would imagine. No question the VT series is better, but if you are not using it for 3D then IMO it is proably not worth the extra money. That is my opinion though having not seen the VT series yet. I think they will be close.

I would say unless you are very picky and notice even the most subtle things in a picture that you would be better off with a 54" G2x series over the 50" VT for your viewing distance, again IMO.
