I am planning to tear out drywall in my living room to connect my Plasma to my media center. My Plasma has 2 x HDMI (I will connect a DVD player to one) and will connect a HDMI cable to the other. My concern is that my HD Cable box has DVI.

Whiich is my best option:

1.Run a HDMI to HDMI cable in the wall for future (HDMI) usage and use a DVI to HDMI adapter on the cable box;

2. Run a HDMI to DVI cable for now and at a later time I need HDMI to HDMI use a HDMI to DVI adapter.

Thanks in advance.

I would probably run the HDMI > HDMI and just get an adapter. Everything seems to be moving to strictly HDMI in the future, so you do not want to use an adapter when the equipment moves to just HDMI. If you have a Scientific Atlanta cable box, the 8300HD DVR units have HDMI, not DVI. If you wanted a DVR then it would be a little more incentive to go with that in the future.

Could you run an extra line with the HDMI > DVI cable too?

Good luck!

You need HDMI & adaptor... HDMI-DVI and adaptor will not pass audio.
