So, here is the story guys...

My parents bought this tv about 3 years ago, it was a floor model and they got a great price (about $400 off the price for a new in box model). Today it started acting funny. We turned it on and it started up. After about 30 - 60 seconds it clicked off. The audio continued from the speakers. After about 20 seconds it clicked back on. Then 30 seconds it clicked off. and it continued to repeat this cycle. We removed the back panel and air blasted the stuff because the fans looked like they needed it. Samsung said "Call for service." Thanks. The lights aren't giving any help. Rarely I'll hear a buzzing sound from the area of the bulb when it turns on, but it only lasts for a few seconds.

At this point, from all the internet research, I'm tempted to tell them to just buy a LCD or other similar type TV because of the cost associated with getting this one replaced.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Craig

The buzzing sound is usually the color wheel gone out. Remove the bulb and housing and look behind it, you can see the color wheel, it may have shattered and there will be glass on the bottom of the tv, or it just may not spin. You can repair it yourself, just put make model and replace color wheel into google and instructions will come up.

Any parts place recommendations? The cost to replace the color wheel is much cheaper than having a technician come out.

Thanks for the tip!

The only place I know is www.samsungparts.com, but I'm sure there are other places that sell it. Below is a link to one of the how to repair sites and he recommends a few places to get them, scroll down a little to the yellow box.
