Have been extremely happy with this set, absolutilly no problems,Have had 4 yrs. Recently began showing time to replace lamp. Although everything seems fine, I am concerned that I have only 6mo on my ext warr thru Best Buy, which I purchased assuming I would have to replace lamp before than.
Can I just call warr company and report replace lamp warning or tell them its dimming and will they send me new one?? Can I insist on OEM by Phillips or can they send me anything they want??? Will they insist on sending out tech???
Thanks-Joe

Hi,I do recommend to tell your warranty company that the picture goes out and getting the lamp indicator.Do ask what brand will they be sending you out.If they don't help you out since some companies don't cover lamps your part # will be XL5200 and you can find it at a good price on ebay.

emachine1 I took a look at their prices and they were at least $100.00 higher than I paid elsewhere.

Does that really matters if you are getting something that worth it...

I am in the exact same situation with the KDS-50A2000 Sony. My 4 year extended warranty will be ending late fall and although my picture is a little dimmer I have been able to get close to the original quality by increasing the settings and using the vivid mode. I remember distinctly that my warranty does cover the lamp, since that was their main selling point and why I purchased it. I am later this summer going to call them and revert my settings to show a much dimmer picture and then have them come out to change the bulb. Hopefully I won't have a problem.

If it's the same product. Why spend more than you have to?
