Sony Wega 55" Rear projector flat screen tv but now there is a dark shaded area at the top of the screen and a very light blue area at the bottom of the screen. Just want to know, is this because of just a faulty new projector lamp or is this because of something I did wrong when I installed the new lamp?

Hi,I believe your tv is not a flat screen for they don't use lamps.I f your tv is in fact a Lcd your problem will be with the light engine. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

Flat panels do not use lamps but "flat screens" certainly can. Many rproj crt as well as DLP have flat screens and use lamps.
