Whose Excited for Fable III? (hint: it's not Kam)

:o

Seriously though, after reading all about the Fable 3 announcements yesterday I'm thoroughly excited for the new game and not the least bit "pissed" at all.

First, the good stuff:

1. Dungeons are now more open and more exploratory than in Fable II.
2. More interaction with the environment/people. I.E. Helping/hurting populace, dog is more dog like.. etc.
3. Weapon morphing! Depending on what weapon you use and what you kill primarily with it, will shape your weapon and level it up in various aspects. For example, kill a bunch of innocents and your weapon will start dripping blood.
4. You can name, and trade your weapon to other players online.
5. Revamped multiplayer. Anything you can do in single player you can do in multiplayer.
6. No more levels/orbs. Instead your character progress is determined by followers.
7. Kingdom ruling. Apparently about half way through the game you actually become the King or Queen and then you get to start shaping the entirety of Albion after your own choices.

Supposedly what we were going to be angry at was the lack of experience and levels for our characters. But I see no reason to try something new and this method certainly does seem interesting. Besides it helps that your weapon will level up. I can't wait to try that out. :D

Peter Molyneux is still making this right?

That leads me to believe your weapon MAY or MAY NOT drip blood. You MIGHT become king. And you MAY have some followers. Also the multi-player stuff will probably maybe sometimes work?

In reality it will just be another sub par RPG with a vaguely interesting story made from a guy who has become the poster child for empty promises right in front of Richard Garriot. So HINT: It's Not Marc either.

So the problem with the Fable games were too many ideas not being fleshed out well enough.

Lionhead's solution? MORE IDEAS!

I do love Peter's ambition, and I guess it's only my fault for buying Fable II before reading any reviews.

kam will be following this game and will probably buy it for the wife, so thread title is a bit inaccurate.

Ah man, Fable was one of those franchises I loved the look of from day 1, eagerly read previews for the original Xbox version, then for some reason never actually bothered to play properly. Might have buy Fable: The Lost Chapters and see if I can get into the franchise, Borderlands is getting me into the mood for some RPG loving.

Thread title is accurate. He said you're not "Excited" about it, not that you won't buy it for whatever reason.

Peter's own ideas are a bit big for his own britches, but I won't pretend like the last 2 Fable games are utter shit because Peter just hypes em up so much.

Luckily for Fable 3, none of these new ideas are completely bizarre and foreign to the gaming world. With Fable 2, Peter promised a dog that would "love" us and we'd "love" it. Obviously that was a failure as the dog was little more than a basic AI script that wasn't really all that great.

With Fable 3 the ideas seem wholeheartedly refreshing for the franchise, but also completely feasible.

This along with Reach are going to dominate my holiday gaming, worried cause I plan on starting my masters come Fall and school has priority. Anyway some other intresting tidbits that will definitley make the game better in regard to multiplayer. You will be able to bring YOUR character when you enter someone elses world rather then a default character from a list, although this will have some unannounced reprecussions. You will have full free roaming co op so you are not locked to the same screen annoyance as with the last game. Last and most intresting is the ability to marry someone online and rule together which sounds pretty sweet. This is def. among my top picks for RPG of the year although have yet to try mass effect.

They're too big for his budget and deadlines rather than his britches, back when he was the main guy at Bullfrog (before EA devoured and destroyed them) he managed to deliver everything a-ok.

It also doesn't help that he sells games when they're still at the storyboard offering things that inevitably have to be cut/watered down to enable them to be released in any reasonable time frame.

I loved my dog KEEBS, in fact the main reason I got the first DLC was soo I could get my dog back, I was a good Hero but I sacraficed 3 innocent people to bring my companion back from the dead.
