This makes me wonder if sony paid squenix not to mention the 360 version at last year's E3... 360 market is too big to ignore

A LinkedIn CV from a Square Enix employee has finally confirmed what’s been obvious for a while: Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Xbox 360.

The profile of Yuuki Akama shows the MMO will be appearing on the platform alongside releases on PC and PlayStation 3.

Proof of the 360s MMO market is where? :p I don't think the 360 userbase would have enough time for MMOs as a good chunk of the 360 audience are really into their online multiplayer on FPS games. Particularly Halo, where even Halo 2 held a large audience well into the 360s life.

I don't think the lack of a 360 announcement last year was anything to do with Sony, more likely Microsoft have changed their stance on MMOs (what with Monster Hunter 2007 also being announced for 360 this last week or so.)

Tretton did say 'when FFXIV launches you'll only be able to play it on Playstation'. Maybe a timed exclusive deal? Or perhaps the 360 will only get it in Japan? Who knows...

I dunno, Monster Hunter's sub fee includes XBL Gold with it.

gamegoody is a reliable and affordable FXIV Fantasy XIV source. Once you’ve completed the ordering, you can have your character boost easily and quickly. Let’s face it. It’s frustrating to work hard on FFXIV Gil making while other players can enjoy the gameplay indiscriminately.Much worse thing is that you expect tons of Final Fantasy gils coming quickly only to find that……it doesn’t. How do you fix it? Turn to a professional store as many players did. Buy FFXIV Gils cheap is the best way to enhance your game experience!

In case you guys don't remember, Final Fantasy XI for the X360 did not require a Gold subscription as Microsoft allowed it with only silver. Of course I have no clue whether this will be true for FFXIV as well, although I personally don't care since I stay the hell away from MMORPG's.

not a big fan of MMorpg to begin with and the sub fee totally kills it further but by all acounts I have heard or read FFXIV is just a horrid game full of absolute suck on all accounts.

PSU required an online sub + Gold if I remember properly. It sounds like the reason there are so few MMOs for the 360 is due to what Valve were "whining about" the other week, re: lack of ability to update properly etc.

Has either console had a current gen MMO so far though? I mean FFXI and PSU were PS2 games and I can't think of any on PS3 yet.

That's what players were initially saying, but now the consensus seems to be "mediocre" on average.

Also, the first professional review that Metacritic posted (http://cheatcc.com/pc/rev/finalfantasyxivreview.html) is a positive review.

Who knows. :what:

FF14 is DOA with that weekly cap for getting experience, no matter what platform it's on.

People will level as much as they can in the first day or two of the week and then not log on again until they can get more xp, and after a month of it I highly doubt they'll be back.

Boneheaded move by Square imo.

I'm gonna have to +1 this.

Got on WoW last night and got some chatter from a few of the hardcore MMO'ers. They didn't get into Beta, but after reading up on the Fatique System they all pretty much said no thanks.

What a retarded move by Square on that one. At least WoW's "rested" system only gives you 2 levels max. So no one can play catch up on it to be honest.

In some ways, I can see it being good. However for dedicated MMOers, it'll instantly put em off. It does allow people with less free time to keep up with the curve though.

Even that's only a bonus for a max of 2 levels. You can still level up after that till the cap if you wanted. You can't even do that in FF14.

I was talking to some friends last night. FFIV IS an abortion. Or better to say, should have been aborted. Anyway, with Cataclysm coming out which is basically World of Warcraft 2. No MMO is going to be able to stand up against it. I'm even looking into it. After swearing I'd never touch an MMO again. They completely changed every starting area and quest. Redid every talent tree. Basically it's an entirely new game.
