I know all the customer service horror stories! But most of what I read is as long as you don't get a defective set their plasmas are amazing. im still looking for a V10 for below MSRP and free shipping but I like this set because its more affordable which will allow me to get an extended warranty (obv with samsgung), has all 4 hdmi ports on the back like I want, Has PIP which I had all but given up on since Panny doesnt offer it. and its really thin and great looking!

So what I want to know is how does the PQ stack up to the V10. How is the 24p Playback when compared to the V10? Thanks in advance

**edit btw i edited my post earlier to fix a typo on my phone and didnt realize I deleted half my post lol sorry about that!**

There is a bug in how the 2009 Samsung plasmas handle 24Fps at 96Hz. Whenever you engage this mode the set gets much brighter. CNET mentions this in their review and AFAIK, they have not said whether they can/will fix this. From what I have read this negates the benefits of plasma if you want to use this feature.

I was just reading over avsforum that a new firmware fixed the cinema smooth bug....I assume this is the issue your talking about?

Yes most likely if you are talking about the plasmas. This is not an issue with their LCDs but with their plasmas. I would read more about this and confirm it is fixed for 96Hz refresh rate with 24Fps signals.

yeah im also seeing people report IR being more of an issue on this plasma rather then the pannys. Same with input lag. Either Im spoiled by starting out only researching Panny and Pio or I just need to bite the bullet and buy a plasma so I have hands on experience rather then judging different sets I have never owned lol.

i would just buy the panny plasma. i have their entry level 1080p(46 inch comparable to the S1, but last years model) set, and one of their higher level 1080p sets (65V10), and they both look great.

IR is less of a problem on the V10, but honestly i really dont see it as being a big problem at all. i mean you cant notice it one bit while watching the tv. the only time u can see it is if you leave an image on the screen for a while and then switch to another input with a black screen. and still, its very very faint. and if you turn the tv off, you will not see any IR

yeah, since you own 2 what do you think of the whole 24p situation? Is 24p that much of a difference to warrant the price gap between the G and V series?

i'll be honest with you, no. i cant tell any difference when i watch a movie with 24p on. when i got the tv i watched parts of the dark knight with 24p on, and then i watched the same parts with it off. i couldnt tell the difference.

maybe someone with a better trained eye would be able to tell, but i sure as hell cant

i mean if you can swing the 58" go for it. it wont hurt getting a v10 lol

but if not 54" will still be pretty damn nice
