Flickering image on Samsung LED 40" 7020

Hey there,

And sorry if I'm double posting by tried to search and didn't find any posts about this specific issue.

I just unpacked my brand new 7020 40" Samsung LED TV, but I noticed a slight flickering, especially in bright areas of the screen. It's not always easy to notice, but it's there.

When I put on the self test picture it's there as well although very faint, but the flickering is not present when watching DVDs with 1080p upscaling (have no Bluray player yet).

Anyone experiencing anything similar? Can't explain why I can't see it when watching DVDs, but when watching TV, especially HD TV (1080i) it's noticeable, less when watching SD quality TV. Currently I have cable TV.

Cheers,

Tegner

Turn off ALL "enhancement" settings in the TV. Things like Dynamic Contrast, Noise Reduction, Motion Enhancement, and anything that says it adjusts the picture for the room lighting.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll try that when I get home :)

It basically looks like this although less pronounced, there is no image distortion, just a slight fluttering in brightness:

Since I can post links, you'll have to manually copy this to you address bar and replace [dot] with .:

That looks pretty bad flickering. Also turn down the back/edge lighting for it. It looks like the power supply is struggling to hold a constant light output. I would try turning all those things off I said and if it still is an issue then exchange it or return it for a different display type.

That backlight bleed is awful. You might want to consider a plasma. ;)

okay thanks!

That is actually not my screen ;). Mine is not near as bad it's much more subtle, but noticeable if you look for it :)

I bought the same model tv about a month ago and have the same problem. I'm thinking of going back to the store to try and get the tv swapped over.

Have you resolved the issue on your tv and if so, how did you do it?
