I'm looking for a tv that I can connect to my pc to use as a media center.

1. How far away will you be from the display when watching it? 5 ft

2. What TV will it be replacing? An 8 year old RCA 54" tube tv

3. What will you be watching on it? 1/2 Movies, 1/4 Gaming, 1/4 Sports

4. Will a computer be connected to use the display as a monitor? If so, what percent of the time? Yes, probably all the time I want to connect it to my pc and use media center.

5. Will you be getting a Blu-ray player to watch movies and will you be getting any HD service from cable/sat, or will you just be watching SD programming, and an upscaling SD DVD player? I will be watching HD content.

6. Are you looking for the best in class display, the best bargain display, or best bang for the buck in the middle display? bang for buck

7. What is the room lighting situation? (i.e. can you control the lighting? Low.

8. What is your budget range? 800-1200

9. Will people be watching at multiple viewing angles or just usually one person sitting directly in the center? Multiple viewing angles

10. When will most viewing be done on the display (i.e. Daytime or after sunset)? Afternoon to midnight.

A 42" Toshiba Regza would be perfect...

I don't think Toshiba has a 42" model... at least I can't find any.

Here is a link for you for a great LCD though: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889253199

Edit: Never mind, they do have a 42" Regza. I still can't find any on any retailers websites though.

Here we go: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4517143&CatId=3650

why such small suggestions for that price range? You can get a decent, sizeable set in that price range.

From five feet anything above forty would be too big, 42" is pushing it IMO. I think 37" is ideal for five feet.

At 1.5x diag. width 42" would be just about right IMO.
