Baseball Hall of Fame = JOKE!!!

The Baseball HoF is already a joke in that Pete Rose who is the best player to ever walk on the field of play to not be allowed in for what he done as a player...But today it became even more of a joke...first Robbie Alomar who was a great 2B did not get in. I never did like him but I always respected his talent & he should have been a no brainer...Then just as bad Barry Larkin only got 51% of the votes in his 1st year...ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

It was always a joke that during Larkins career that Ozzie Smith was considered the best SS in the National League...Larkin was as good of a fielder as Smith was & a waaaay better hitter than Smith was...people never heard of SS's who could hit until Ripken Jr & Larkin started their careers.
Today's vote, just like all the awards back when they both played were definitely affected by the fact Larkin played in a small market like Cincinnati & Ozzie played in bigger markets San Diego & St Louis...Maybe Larkin should have done backflips for the camera everynight & he would have got in on the first ballot like Ozzie did.

I also think it is a joke that Bert Blyleven got snubbed again, the guy's stats are stats that pitchers rarely accumalate...I don't get it...baseball has always been my favorite sport but they have to have the worst Hall of Fame of any sport. I understand everybody that had a few good years doesnt get in but they are passing on a couple great players here. I know they will both eventually get in, but when you play great baseball year in, year out you deserve to get in on the first ballot.

CONGRATS TO ANDRE DAWSON

GO REDS!!!

Don't be hating Ozzie.
Ozzie's career Fielding % .978 http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/player.php?p=smithoz01
Larkin's .942 http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/larkiba01.shtml
I agree Larkin was a better hitter.

Larkin should have been in, and since we are naming guys who are getting over looked. What about Dale Murphy? In the 80's he may have been the best or one of the best CF's in baseball. He made the 30/30 club when it was still a rare thing to see. So what if he didn't hit over 400 homers, not his fault he played before the steroid era.
And what about Jack Morris, one of the best postseason pitchers around.

I wasn't trying to hate on Ozzie it is the fact that Barry larkin was a heck of a SS also who was alot better hitter.
Look at it like this, if your team needed a SS & you had to choose between Ozzie & Larkin going by the stats...do you let those few 100th's of a point on defense keep you from taking a much better hitter in Larkin...I doubt it very seriously....Ozzie was a very good SS but he was never any better than barry larkin imo.

Dale Murphy was my favorite non-Reds player for awhile during the early 80's as we first got the TBS channel when
Murphy started his run of alot of great years. I think they hold that .265 avg against him, not sure though.

I was playing with ya. ;) It was a different game then. You could get away with Ozzie's weak bat at Busch because the Cards at that time played small ball coupled with good pitching and great defense. Whitey knew the OZ had no bat when he asked for him. I miss the the old NL east and those huge cookie cutter stadiums that were huge. Alot of homeruns in these new cracker boxes would have been outs in those old venues. You really had to get a hold of one to get it out.

You are probably right about the average. He played longer than he should have, injuries to his knees really slowed him down.

Well there's a lot of legits not getting in. Only one did this year. At that rate only the creme de la creme will be voted in.
