Info on TV types

I was trying to find some threads on here or some sites on Google talking about the differences between each TV type...Plasma, LCD, LED-LCD, DLP, CRT, etc. Couldn't find exactly what I wanted so if any of you can link to a thread or a good website, here's what I'm looking to know:

-Differences between each TV type
-Pros/Cons of each TV type
-The technology involved with each TV type (how it works, what parts are inside)
-A history showing the evolution of each type and how they have gotten better over time

This may be a lot to ask, but I'm starting college soon for software engineering and they don't teach all this type of stuff. I don't know what kind of course I would take if I wanted to do something like installing home theater systems or whatever, but that is something else I would be interested greatly in. I also wanted to know all this considering I will be buying a TV once I move into my new apartment and save up some money. I just feel like I am really behind a lot of the people here as far as technical knowledge goes, and I really crave to know about everything involved with home theater and consumer electronics and such. Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Wikipedia is your friend.....and dont take it too hard as you are basically asking someone to write a dissertation on the subject of "The Evolution of Television"
