I have a P4 3.0 with 2GB Ram running Vista Home Pre. as my HTPC. I have a Quad core Vista Ult. 32bit that I want to connect to my HTPC. So when My wife is watching tv, I can transfer files to and from the HTPC without switching her show off. I could do this before with my XP pro HTPC. That died so I got the Vista one up and running.

So is there a question in there or you just informing us of what is going on?

It reads as if Vista is not doing what XP once did.

If you are having trouble with the remote desktop running you should be sure the firewall is not the problem. I use VNC myself rather than remote desktop.

There is no need for u to use remote desktop or vnc, just "map a network drive" and transfer the files that way
