Hey folks, Great forum here. After much reading I decided on the Panasonic TCP54V10 or the TCP58V10. So I go to HHGregg and am ready to buy the 54. Turns out the only one they have is the floor model and the salesmans computer says "discontinued", meaning they are not getting anymore, period. Best Buy will price match so I head over there. They need comfirmation, but HHGregg has dropped the 54 off the website so no price match. BB shows 3 54's in an alternate warehouse and some 58's in the store. Go on BB website last night and the 54 is no longer listed. So, it looks like they're not going to carry it anymore either. Any idea whats going on here? Why would the 2 biggest retailers be dropping this great TV? Slow sales? New model coming? Problems? Anybody have any insight on this? TIA

Others will tell you if the line is going to be discontinued, but I can tell you this. Here in Ohio we have a chain called ABC Warehouse. We purchased the TC-P58V10 on Dec. 17. It was on backorder. The shipment came in late last week and they delivered it on Monday. I asked him how many he had received and he said "50-some." There were 8 of us waiting for the backorder.

The picture is awesome. It's been running in break-in mode per the instructions I've found on this forum, but I've turned it up for just a few minutes at a time and am confident that we made an excellent choice.

The Panasonic TC-P54V10 is in stock TODAY at www.vanns.com , www.amazon.com and at www.newegg.com . Vann's and Newegg offer FREE shipping, and Amazon has free shipping on some of its vendors. Anyone looking for one had better order soon !! :yippee:

Thanks guys. Went with the 58 from BB. None in stock, but should get by Jan 20. Figured the closer to Superbowl the tougher it was going to get one of these. After seeing the demand, I doubt it will ever go on sale. I generally despise BB, but 3 years same as cash won me over.

They not been able to keep up with demand through 2009. Best Buy and HHGregg are notorious for telling people that a TV is discontinued when it's really not, then trying to get you to buy a brand or model that they actually have in stock. Very sleazy.

I Emailed Panasonic last week telling them how my friend was told by a Best Buy salesman that the 58V10 (and 65V10) were discontinued by Panasonic and they tried to get him to buy a Samsung instead (which he would never buy) and I asked them if they were really discontinued, but a they wrote back that this is incorrect and they're not discontinued, and that demand has been higher than anticipated and they're on backorder until late January or early February.

I did not ask about the 50" or 54" (my buddy wants a 58" or larger) but these sizes are still in some regional wharehouses but not in others.

I agree! they're definitely sleazy..
Everytime I bought something from BB I felt like I was being robbed.

I know BB does this. Really is sleazy IMO.

I think demand has just been much greater than Panasonic anticipated so they were caught short handed with inventory. They are worth the wait IMO.

Purchased a 54" V10 from ABC Warehouse in the Detroit area for $1899 a couple weeks ago, haven't seen anybody able to come even close to that price.
