Mailorder??

I just purchased a Panasonic 42" G10 from Newegg. I've never purchased a tv by mailorder and I'm a little concerned but none were available in my area so I didn't have a choice.

I read Neweggs delivery policy and when delivered the TV has to be signed for by a person eighteen or older. The problem is that when signed for, the person doing the signing is saying they accept the tv in the condition it is in.

My question is do most unpack and examine the tv before signing or just sign and hope there's no damage.

Thanks,

bushrod

I have ordered many pieces of electronic equipment ( in fact, EVERYTHING in my house ) online. As for my Panny 50" HDTV, the truck pulled in my driveway, the TV was unloaded and brought into my house. Then it was unpacked by the driver and inspected for damage. He then asked me to plug it in to make sure it worked properly BEFORE I signed ! I purchased it from Vanns.com, and the shipping was FREE. You can't ask for any better than THAT ! As for Newegg, I really don't know, as I have never purchased from them, but I would imagine that it would be much the same.

Just tell them you will not sign until you plug it in to make sure the screen isn't cracked. Period!

Yep. That's what the op needs to do.

I never really thought about it but I guess the drivers have to give you time to check it out, right?

They might try to not allow the time to do this because of THEIR schedule, but just tell them too bad. You are NOT signing something saying it is operating correctly and not damaged without making sure of it. Don't take "no" for an answer with this. Simply say you absolutely will NOT sign without doing this first. ;)

If they did treat it harshly during shipping it, then they likely would be even more insistent to not allow you to do this before signing but hold firm.

I ordered from NewEgg which is in Whittier Calif.. I'm also in Calif. but I just learned the TV is being shipped from New Jersy. You can bet your boots, after being shipped across the US, I'm going to make sure everything works!

Thanks for the advice.
