Did any of you guys catch the Star Wars movies on SPIKE TV HD Christmas Eve???

I am not a big Star Wars guy but the pq was absolutely mind blowing imo. I have all the rest of them taped as they had a marathon on SPIKE yesterday & I was just in awe of the detail & colors from movies that were so old. best I have ever seen on tv that wasn't blu ray.

If you missed them you can check & maybe they are on again during the holidays. Even if your not a star wars junkie they are worth watching if they are on again...heck all I know is there is a good guy named Luke Skywalker, bad guy Darth Vader, & somehow he is his father or something like that...lol

They altered the aspect ratio. All the films are supposed to be 2.39 but they were shown at 1.78.

What it means is that you did not see parts of the image that should be there. The image is missing 25% of what should be there.

You don't know what aspect ratio means?!? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Have a Merry Christmas!!!

You should spend your Christmas time reading a book instead of watching Star Wars.

Thanks Lee for the info. I am one of those guys who when making a purchase I study up on everything but after the purchase most of the info goes out the window...lol

Like I said though I am not a big Star Wars guy so I won't miss anything like a Star Wars junkie would.

What mixes me up is nephew says that Star Wars IV wich is dated 1977 is actually the first one or at least the one that started it all for being so popular & it goes from there. I already forget how he explained it to me though.

I was flipping through the channels yesterday and landed on Spike's showing of the Star Wars triology. Now I have watched Star Wars since my wife and I first saw it at the theater in 1977. So, I seldom watch Episodes 4,5 and 6 any longer. However, I was absolutely taken aback at the FANTASTIC picture quality, and it glued me to the channel for the rest of the day ( and night ). I thought that Episode 5, The Empire Strikes Back, was particularly stunning !! I stayed up until around 2am this morning watching it !! In fact, I found myself checking the input info several times just to make sure it was 1080i and not 1080p. The audio was nothing less than amazing also. I found that Dolby EX produced the best sound on my 7.1 audio system. Spike is not known for amazing video and audio. What happened ?? * :D *

Exactly what I felt! When I seen it was star wars on tv at first I didn't consider watching it. Then after talking a bit to some family I looked again & was just wowed!!! They had a 52" lcd & people would walk into that room for the first time & would find a seat as they were so amazed. If I would have seen that somewhere & not known how it was being played I would have bet money it was Blu Ray.
It was III that I watched over there so I got 4, 5, & 6 I am gonna start on very soon.

OK, I just noticed where Spike is showing BAND OF BROTHERS on Saturday. I'm going to check it out and see if it is as visually stunning as Star Wars was on Thursday. We can only hope !! :angel Oh, and I trust you had ( or are having ) a wonderful Festivus, drbrosco !!
