Break-in may begin soon!

Ok, there is a very likely chance I will be getting the G10 tomorrow. Is there anything special I need to know concerning break-in aside from setting brightness and contrast to 50 and not having any black bars or static images?

I don't really plan to get too uptight about it and run a break-in disc 24 hours a day...I'll just watch TV and leave it on during the day while I'm home. Maybe I'll use an SD for break-in every now and then in between.

Anything else I should know concerning anything at all?

Thanks!

I really did, but searching for "how to break in" and other variants didn't seem to produce much. I did find one fairly complicated explanation on AVS, but it seemed like way more than was necessary.

What you stated is what I did and it is fine.

Thanks. Just one more thing: are transparent station logos okay during break-in, or should I avoid them until afterwards?

Avoid those static scrolling bars at the bottom of Fox news and ESPN

Yup, static lines, logos and background with scrolling text

I know, it was just funny the way it was written, seemed like an oxymoron.

Got my G10 last week and love it. I plan on doing the same as the first post. dont have time to go so involved with burn/break in... I know, I know...

How many of you guys use the "Scrolling Bar" feature? I have it going right now.

Just watch your new toy. That works better than the scrolling bar IMO.

LOL...Thanks :)

Should I adjust video settings any or just go for what looks good to me?

Not to mention it looks better too!

Turn on the "pixel shifter" -- max. pixels and max. movement. Then forget about "burn in" and enjoy the new TV and the holidays.

Just use the THX mode and set the contrast at 50% and avoid black bars and static images. I never used the break in slides or DVD.

If I'm not mistaken, the sliding bar is just to remove IR, isn't it? I don't think it has to do with break-in.

Yes that is the intent of the white horizontal scrolling bar, but I have found that just using full screen moving video does a better job and faster too.
