Possible EVDO and 4G forum

After being stuck on dial up internet access for too many years, I am biting the bullet, gasp going through the learning curve, and I may go with 3G EVDO internet access. For those with dsl or cable internet, EVDO 3G is probably a bad and more expensive option, but when the only broadband internet option is EVDO or satellite, EVDO somehow starts to look good. Ironically the situation could reverse as 4G internet is starting to be deployed, and suddenly 4G internet may becomes the fastest game in town while prices drop.

I note there is already a 3 G forum but its somewhat heavily censored by something called the 3 G store. And many of the 3G reception problems are very similar to OTA television reception.

I do not know if I am the only one expressing interest in such an addition to this forum, but it does not hurt to toss out the idea.

But for anyone considering going EVDO 3G with a cell phone carrier, I have one tip, buy your own 3G modem beforehand and then you can opt for a month by month contract. Meanwhile anyone on this forum with 3 G questions can PM me for my limited insights.

In somewhat of a bump of my own post, I finally got my EVDO modem today, and for the first time in my life, I now have broadband internet at my home location.

Not really stellar results yet, only 700 kbits/sec up and down, but its still 20X what dial up could deliver. And I have yet to explore antenna options
that might deliver 40x.

I still cannot advocate EVDO for folks that have dsl, cable, FIOS, uverse, or even other wimax options, but when it comes down to a month by month EVDO contract Vs. Satellite with a 2 year contract, I am content in my choice.
