Is the PS3 God of War multi pack good?

Saw it on sale at BB, and was thinking of picking it up. Played the Psp version of gow, but never the ps2 versions. Is it worth it for 19.99? And does it actually look better visually than the ps2 version?

$20 bucks? Wow, I'd buy it for that price. To answer your questions:

Is it better looking than the PS2 version? Yes!

Is it worth $19.99? Yes!

Two good games; game play, story, soundtrack, overall mood, for $20? I'm getting it tomorrow!

Cool. I got it on A crazy black Friday sale on impulse along with a hp pavillion notebook and Microsoft office (only $59 itself) and have been playing so much mw2 that I haven't opened it and was gonna take it back. I opened borderlands a few days back and regret it. Played ac2, and that one was loads of fun. Maybe I'll play gow tonight then. Thanks.

Play GOW2 this week EddieDZ or you'll never use a PS3 related avatar again. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj186/kamspy/Indifferent2.gif

I have the collection, having NEVER played the original on PS2 I can honestly say it's worth every nickel of 30 or 40 dollars. If you've played the originals then probably not. I should probably download that GOW3 demo it came with. Maybe after I beat the first 2, getting to the 2nd to last stage on the first one now.

Wifey's giving it to me for Christmas. I really don't want to wait til then because I prolly won't be able to finish both before GOWIII comes out. I played the original PS2 one on the PS3 and loved it and got about hafway through GOW2, it's worth every penny to me just to be able to play these in HD @ 60fps. GOW1 was a masterpiece imo and 2 is amazing so far, the scale is friggin enormous...

That's what I wanted to hear. I was looking forward to seeing these in HD on the bigscreen, as my only GOW experience is the Olympus one on the PSP. And I apparently mispoke, the receipt says $29.99 not $19.99. Still worth it I think. Chains of Olympus was awesome and at $15 each I probably can't go wrong. When does III come out? I think I'll play these two whenever I'm in a slump on MW2. Thanks guys.

I figure shortly after I get to open it I'll actually have time to play them!

Two of the best games on the PS2 IMO. I played GOW2 a earlier this year and was impressed how great it looked in widescreen mode on the HDTV, imagine the PS3 versions will be great looking.

The button mashing in GOW1 grows tiresome. There isn't as much in GOW2.

I don't think I'll finish 1....I hate button mashing and refuse to do it every time I kill a large enemy.

I knew I loved the sixaxis when I was playing Resistance and some bugs got on me. Usually that would prompt some button mashing, but instead I just had to shake the controller. Much better.

All button mashing QTEs needs shake spamming patched in ASAP FWIW IMO DFC.

Aside some Wii games, I can't think of many games I enjoyed that don't require smashing of buttons.

I guess Racers are a genre of no smashie. Everything else has a button smashed 80% of the time.

What kind of games are you playing that require you to mash the button as fast and as often as GOW1? Now, the button mashing wasn't at all in my memory of GOW1, but when I played the HDremake it really stood out as an outdated gameplay mechanic.

I don't mind some QTE and GOW does it better than anyone, but the rapid pressing of a single button has always been my number one gaming peev. EA managed to add that feature for their 2010 showing of Madden for fumble recovery.:banghead:

Maybe it's because I'm awful at pressing the same button really fast in games. Always have been. UFC I'd lose by default because I knew I'd get beat when it came to the button mashing parts. Fumbles in Madden 10? I stopped trying. Just accept the loss of possession.

I've tried every method known of button spam too as far as holding the controller different ways. I think my thumb gets nervous.

Definitely worth the money. I played through both on PS2 and I wanted to replay them both on PS3 before GOW3 comes out. The visual updates are well worth it. It plays smoother and looks a lot better on a HDTV now. Oh yah, and it has trophies too if you're into that kind of thing.

Am I the only person who puts the controller on their thigh and smashes the button rapidly with their pointer finger?

No... you're not. I personally blame Ring King for my ability to smash buttons so fervently

Yes, you are.. I usually turn the controller face down and bash it off the table.. :D

So god of war one finished... started god of war 2. The first 20 minutes of that game is better than the entirety of GOW1. If 3 follows that trend I don't think we'll be able to stand the gaming goodness.

To me, that is just the nature of the games.

Either I'm slamming my finger on B to jump over shit, X to swing my sword, or the triggers to shoot my gun (I don't like automatic, I prefer burst or single shot, more control and accuracy) most of the games I play have some function of "QTE." Now, it isn't like standard QTE where it triggers an event, but I'd call it a "QTE" on the simple function that if I fail at preforming a complex rotation of button smashing (SF I'm looking at you) I will die.

But that is just my simple observation of video games. Been doing it for so long, why I think I hate the Wii-Mote, and most likely these wands and camera ideas. Sure, I'll try something new, but in the end it tends to lack in response time for these "QTE" that I encounter in just about every game I play.

QTE is okay in small doses and mostly optionally. God of War seems to do a pretty good job of it. You can kill the Gorgons regularly. OR you can do the QTE challange for a magic boost. Only the bosses require QTE.

I really enjoyed the challange of God of War. The pacing was near perfect. The end fight where your on that floating thing with your family, it took me many tries to get. My wife said to me "Why not try it on easier so you beat it" and I said "Why should i reward myself for sucking?".

Hehehheh, does she make fun of you when you die in a game? My wife does that :(
On a happier side note: my wife is out picking this title up for me right now. Don't know where she got the money for it, but I ain't complaining.
