Great experience with Discount-Merchant

Well the bulb in my Hitachi 55VF820 Rear Projection LCD TV finally went out after 4 years of use! After reading some stuff on the forum hear I decided to try out discount-merchant for the purchase of a new bulb.

I didn't really read up any of the instructions about the bulb swap and decided to just buy the new bulb inside of a new enclosure for $124.99. It arrived in 2 days to my door.

Opened the box and went to swap in the new enclosure and it wouldn't fit. I compared them side by side and they look identical with the exception of one of the mounting tabs having a few extra holes in it. As far as I could tell one of the small tabs on the TV wouldn't slide into the hole on the new enclosure.??....

So I did what any smart TV owner would do and just swapped the new bulb into the old enclosure.

Well, had I known it was that easy I probably would have just saved the $20 premium they charge for the enclosure. So I called discount merchant and in no more than 5 minutes they had a $20 refund heading my way no questions asked. I explained what happened, they apologized and said they'd refund the difference.

Wow! Talk about great customer service. They didn't ask me to return the new enclosure, they didn't ask for a picture, nothing.

I would highly recommend them for your TV bulb replacement needs.

You were a lot more lucky than I was. I purchased a replacement lamp for Mitsu DLP from them in October. They sent me the lamp with the enclosure. After I installed, I noticed that the picture was blurry and then I smelt some smoke. I quickly pulled the lamp out and noticed that the bulb was not properly installed in the enclosure and started to melt it.

I call DM and they sent me a RNA number for a return and stated they would send me a new one. Well here I am a month and a half later with no replacement bulb an no credit to my account. I had to call me credit card company and dispute the charge which has now been credited back to me. I tried calling DM twice after I shipped the lamp back, both time they stated their computers were down and I needed to call back. Sorry but I shouldn't have to keep calling to get my replacement bulb or a refund. I would NEVER buy anything from this company.....
