Any experience or rumor on Advent 27" HDTV?

I have herd the rumor that they are garbage. And I have had an almost 2 yr experience of anything but. People dont like generic brands..so they are automatically defeatus about any problem the product has. So if the remote stops working or they cant figure something out, then it is automatically because the brand sucks (like no other brand could have the same problem  ). I mean look at hyundai...they still carry the rep of non reliability (thanks to mitsu), and ppl no matter what the company does will still be skeptical. They will have a :It could be the best in the world...but it wasnt at one time so thus it CANT be now attitude. Who knows...I may be the only person on the planet who hasnt had a problem with it (I doubt it). Sorry for the way late reply lol :D

I'd agree with your perception theory.

The Advent tv looks just fine to me. I've only seen the 27" model, and its never showing true HD in the store. But its SD programming looks about the same as the other brands of similar size. I don't like the fact that the Advent's are all 4:3. HDTV's at that aspect ratio are actually smaller than advertised when watching HD programming since the top and bottom vertical sections go unused.

Would I spend my money on an Advent? Probably not. I'd just spend the extra $150-200 for a Samsung. I guess I still fall victim to the perception theory.

Choice is a wonderful thing isnt it...Yeah, the 27" is limited by its 4:3 aspect. But when watching something on say Discovery HD theatre in 1080i...this tv rocks. Why wouldnt it though..alot of the parts in it are comprised of other high end tv manufacturers components. I own this and a Hitachi Ultravision 60VS810, and granted the Hitachi does have more features, its nicer, pictures better, its way bigger, its widescreen, and its black lol but for the price ($325 and it displays true 720p) this tv looks just as good if not better than other HD models in the same class (27" 4:3 DirectView CRT's). But Im just one person with one opinion. Oh and the larger Advent tv's do come in widescreen models. Its only the 27" and 32" that are 4:3 ratio. :D
