"Gamers looking to get their hands on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will have the opportunity to preorder the title and pay a net price of $20 if they follow basic guidelines announced recently by retailer Gamestop.
According to the company, anyone who preorders the game from Gamestop.com will have it when it hits store shelves on November 10. If those customers trade in the game by December 13, Gamestop will give them a $40 in-store credit.
Considering Modern Warfare 2 costs $60, that means that those who trade in the title will pay just $20 to play it. It's not a bad deal for frequent gamers who play through a game once and never play it again.

Yeah, but I would think that most people excited for the game play it a lot over the course of many months since the MP aspect of it is so big.

Paying $20 to play it for a month seems pretty scamish.

Cheaper than renting it from Blockbuster :p but I'm guessing they know lots of people will be on the hunt for pre owned copies in December.

So that would be $40 total if you traded-in and re-bought the game new. Pretty good deal, but if you're a wholesome honest lad like SOBAY it feels a little scammish. COD games are some of the few games that are actually worth their $60 pricetag b/c of their awesome MP.

I was trying to figure it out. But yeah it's still a 20 dollar savings and they are probably counting on people to do it because they will then resell it for 55 dollars and make more than the original copy somehow.

They should have put a thing in there "Trade credit must be used immediately and cannot be put towards COD MW2".

Sounds like a rip off..esp for a game with good mp. I bet activision is not too thrilled of this either. It basically devalues the game by encouraging ppl to trade it in early. Cheesy tactic by gamestop.

Activision is probably VERY pissed. But how many people are buying used games as christmas gifts at a savings of 5 dollars? It's not a ripoff getting 40 bucks on a traded in game is good. Let's say I buy it for 360 (which I am) and I and up sucking so bad I don't want to play anymore. It's possible never really played a game like this on the 360. Getting 40 bucks back is better than shelving it.

The only ones getting ripped off is activision. And with midnight launches I think they'll do okay. 3 million copies in the first week? LOL

Actually Activision probably love this if you think about it. This will increase sales early on and reduce renters. A strong push like this early on would mean total domination of the holiday season. MW2 is a game that you are either buying day 1 or holding off on cause your strapped for cash literally everyone is talking about it. So doubt many people will wait till December to get it.
