Hello everyone, still trying the narrow down my search for a new plasma display. Since I live a long distance from any retailer I have to do most of my research online. Opinions about the Panny V10 vs the G10 would be appreciated. I like the idea of "one sheet of glass" look of the V10 as well as the swivel base, but the price difference seems to be as much as $500. more for the V10. Can you think of any more improvements that might make the V10 worth the money over the G10? Thanks

Either one is a fantastic display and a good choice. Check out the Panasonic site for what each model offers and then see if the additional features are worth the extra money to you.

Good luck & welcome to the forum! :hithere:

They are identical post calibration, this was confirmed by Pro ISF Calibrator D-Nice.

The V10 does a better job with 24fps source material due to the 96Hz refresh rate. It also has pro setting adjustments and a few more options. If you were planning to watch alot of blu-rays, I'd say pay the difference, if not go with the G10...you could always take the money you saved and get a professional calibration later on. ;) Both are excellent plasmas and you can't go wrong either way.

Didn't the G10 get a firmware update to fix the 3:2 pulldown? I seem to remember mention of flicker, but that it was fixed with the new firmware.

The V10 is definitely thinner and has a slightly different look. Maybe that's what you pay for, in the longrun.

The G10 has only a 48Hz refresh rate, for videophiles like me that's seems a little low. I game at 75Hz on my gaming LCD, 48Hz just wouldn't be as smooth as 96Hz.

You didn't mention the size so...

I just want to make sure you know...

Only the 50V10 models have swivel stand.

Thanks for all the info. Am going to civilization this weekend so I hope to see the 50-54G10 as well as the 50-54V10 in person. I saw a review on CNET about the V10 and had forgotten that they were actually reviewing the 50" so "Bruzzi" thanks for the heads up about the swivel base only on the 50". The swivel is an important part of the equation.
