TV doesn't accept Remote anymore

I have an LG 37LCD (4 years old) and it's no longer accepting the remote control. I have tried reprograming the remote, using the remote it came with and resetting the TV. The problem apparently isn't with the remote.

Other than having a repairman come out and fix the TV, does anyone have any suggestions?

If this is a repairman type of thing, does anyone have an idea on the cost? I'd hate to pay $500 for a repair, if I can spend $1,000 and get an upgrade to the TV currently I have.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

If the remote sensor in the TV is bad, it could be an expensive repair, depending if parts are even available for your model.

If it were me, looking at a replacement would be my choice at this juncture...

Have you tried unplugging the TV for the power for a couple of hours? Sometimes this can reset some overload issue in the device. It is worth a shot and is free. :D

Yup, and unplugging a TV that's mounted on the wall isn't as easy as you'd think. I think the next time I get an outlet placed on the wall, I'm going to have it attached to an switch so I can reset the TV without any hassles.

Looks like I'm going to be calling for an estimate...anything over $200 means a replace set is going to be bought.
