what's going on??

last night when i put my tv on i had a call ext. 732 message so i called direct tv and they had to send my programming over again, but my receiver in the bedroom was fine. well tonight iam watching tv when i get a searching for satellite signal on about 70% of the channels, while the receiver in the bedroom is fine. what could this be??? the searching for satellite signal is the high def one.thanks

I used to install/service DirecTV equipt and according to what you have said the problem most likely is a signal loss through a bad cable connector, the most common problem. Could be a bad connector on the cable, or a bad connector inside the wall plate. Check all your connections, they don't have to be wanged down tight with a wrench, just finger tight.

Some fly-by-night installers have been using existing cable company RG-59 cables which also attenuate the signal level. ALL the cables on your satellite system should be RG-6 for reliable service.

the tech went in the menu and updated the receiver and all was fine 5 minutes and it was fixed. :)
